damianimilco.com: website rebuild for a beverage distributor

Context

Damiani Milco is a company based in Cascina (Pisa) that has been delivering water, soft drinks, beer and wine to homes since 1965, collecting the empties on the way back. The previous site ran on WordPress, on yearly-fee hosting that also carried the company email: a fixed cost for a site that changes a few times a year, and a platform that had to be kept up to date.

Goal

A modern site, clear on smartphones and easy to maintain, without losing the search rankings built up over the years and without recurring hosting costs.

What was done

• Static site built with Astro and TypeScript: lightweight pages, images optimized at build time, no database or plugins to update.
• Content kept apart from layout: water brands and sizes and the towns served live in dedicated data files, editable without touching the design.
• Migration to Cloudflare: domain transferred to Cloudflare Registrar, site published on Cloudflare Pages.
• Email through Cloudflare Email Routing: the addresses on the company domain stay the same and messages are forwarded to the destination inboxes, with no more dependency on the old hosting.
• SEO continuity: 301 redirects from every old WordPress URL, canonical tags, sitemap and LocalBusiness structured data.
• No cookies and no forms: no consent banner to show visitors.

Outcome

Domain, site and email now live on Cloudflare, and the old hosting fee is no longer needed: hosting costs are eliminated. The client has a faster, up-to-date site that is maintained by editing a few text files.

The site is live at www.damianimilco.com.
